Fly to the Sky vol. 4

I wrote about this group quite some time ago (say a year back) and the only song I knew then was Poison Ivy. I finally got hold of the album 9 days ago from Yes Asia. Needless to say that this is an old album. But I love every single tracks in it!

Still my favourite is PI so enjoy track number 4 -Poison Ivy.

Cuban Heels by Emily Barr

I read this book so soon after I was badly scarred by the previous book. Hoping to heal the wound but needless to say the wound is too deep or maybe this book was not strong enough.
It's single, white female type of story. You know, the kind that stole other's identity (even spouse) etc but chic...ly done. But my interest was not there. I didnt even take down any note which at one point made me feel guilty. Like punishing this book for mistake done by other book and not giving it a fair chance. But it's too late now to undo any of it.
Again like the previous book I struggled to finish this but thanks to a short weekend getaway to Penang, I finally able speed up my reading and the few final chapters were finished below a shady canopy overlooking the pool at Bayview Hotel, Penang.

Breakout by Swing Out Sister

When I switched the stereo this morning, this tune came on air. Oh how I love it.
It really perks up my Saturday morning. Oh I'm so stuck in 80s ^_^

Remember by Oh Hyun Ran

My interest in Korean drama started from this drama called Memories in Bali. That was three years ago. Yes, this is an old drama. I recently bumped into the drama whilst browsing the new HD channels and the haunting soundtrack came to haunt me again, like it did beforw. I love Oh Hyun Ran's vocal in this song and it match the love triangle storyline very well. The story was rather depressing actually and I hate the ending. But the song is good. Enjoy.

The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold

I bought the book because the author wrote Lovely Bones, which I haven't read but it was suppose to be good. She was likened to the female Edgar Allan Poe. The character killed her mom on the first page. So what went wrong?

It was a slow start for me and it stayed ... slow. Took me almost 2 months to finish. *deep deep sigh*

If there was any book that kill off my reading interest, this would be the ONE.

At the end, readers were suppose to come out with their own conclusion - I dont have any and I dont care!

Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs

Shocking, twisted, gross, funny and full of bizarre characters. Too strange.

Everybody in the book was nuTs; to the the T!

I kept turning to the back page of the book to look at the author's picture (the book is labelled as memoir). But I cannot picture him as the real protagonist in the story. I had Kurt (the character from TV series Glee) came to the picture which to me fits the bill.

p174 - toilet bowl reading episode was eeww ... gross!
p191 - phlegm episode ... yucks!

The story was disturbing especially when you consider it was suppose to be based on a true account. Most of the time I can't make up my mind on whether to sympathise (usually my first impression) or to laugh out loud (mostly due to the way it was written)at their misfortune or turn of events. To be honest, I'm not prepared to consider any of the events stated in this book as true - some were just too strange and I dare say sick!
Nevertheless from time to time this saying kept creeping to my mind - fact is stranger than fiction. The fact that the book was totally weird and strange, it prompt me to consider that it may not be fiction too. This brought a stream of critiques from my book read group. Unbeknownst to me, there was already a heated debate out there on the said book and the possibility that the story was fabricated. Not to mention a law suit from people potrayed (I quote) harshly in the book.

Anyways I enjoyed the book ... fabricated or otherwise.
