A week ago both hubby and me took two days off. It was a school break but we dont have any definite plan of where to bring the kids. On Sunday afternoon after several attempts to make last minute hotel reservation to several hotels, we finally found one in Malacca. The last time we went to the historical state for touristy visit was in 2007. So it had been 2 years.
Weather was hot. We skipped places we've been before like the St. Paul Hill and the ride on those decorated trishaws. Went to several museums where I had to be the tour guide and was horrified to find out that my sons were clueless on who was Paremeswara or had any idea about Hang Tuah etc. So that afternoon, they also learnt about Afonso de Albuquerque (Portugese conqueror) - not just Cristiano Ronaldo (hmm), the Dutch and also British who came to Malacca.
At night, after a thorough guide thru the phone from hubby's friend who himself stuck in a jam on the North-South Highway driving from Perak to Melaka - we found a seafood place where my husband been before with the said friend. Sweet sour crab, grilled stingray & prawns, nasi lemak and drinks of 4pax costed us only RM60 after a RM7 discount. It couldn't get any more delicious :) Below are some of our pics.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
I’m the world’s best predator, aren’t I? Everything about me invites you in — my voice, my face, even my smell. As if I need any of that! Edward Cullen
I finished reading Twilight, a few days ago. Friday to be exact. It gave me a better pespective of the movie but nevertheless I'm glad that I saw the movie first which I must confessed that convert me to the book series fan. So am I gonna be biased about the book? Yes, I am :)
Stupid, shiny Volvo owner Bella Swan
My hubby watched the Twilight dvd ... finally. This morning while we were out running errand across town he saw a C30 Volvo and exclaimed 'hey, that's the car that vampire (what's his name?)in the movie was driving'. Of all the exciting scenes (for me)in the movie, my hubby only remembered the car Edward was driving.
And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…
What a stupid lamb.
What a sick, masochistic lion. Edward and Bella
That has got to be my favourite quote from the book. I've got to detox myself from all this obsession of the book. So I'm currently reading Pride & Prejudice. Ha!Ha! yes the very same one I think I read many years ago during school. Don't ask me why. Trust me I'm having a tough time following its dialogue/conversation. It wasnt that hard before. Why o why am I torturing myself? My eldest son was confused and surprised when he learnt that I'm not reading Twilight serie 4 - Breaking Dawn. Told him, I'm not ready yet. Which of cos, confused him more.
You’re as white as a ghost — no, you’re as white as me! Edward Cullen

Giving in to temptation
Kak Lin brought the Twilight book for me as promised (after I text to remind her while she was packing and after she replied and calling me dracula fan ^_^). So I'm reading that now (savouring each precious page) and mentally comparing notes with the movie.
And on top of that, yesss... I got myself the 4th book in the series. But I'm not reading it just yet. Saving the best for last. My husband's 14 year old nephew Amil said that his friend (maybe girlfriend) put off reading the last book until the very end bcos after that there will be no more continuation of the book. I told him that's exactly how I felt too!!! (same as a 14 year old ha!ha! :))) So at present, I have all 4 books in my collection. One have to return back after finish. But I will get one for my own to complete the collection.
Not a good week for me in terms of my chaotic mind (a lot of siblings-family issue to deal with) but I refuse to dwell on it here. Hubby has been a great support to my spiral downwards spirit. So these books are definitely my saviour.
Below is the trailer for the up and coming New Moon movie based from the second book of the Twilight series. I can't waitttt....enjoy the clip!
ps/ I'm on Edward's team yeahh

The red affair
Last Sunday night we went to a relative's wedding. Reached the hotel we got to know that the wedding theme was red (judging by the deco). Coincidently I was wearing red too for the event. The last pic shows bouquet and bouquet of real red roses imported from China.

Passing of a friend
Mahani was an ex-schoolmate of both hubby and me. I last met her in November last year when we both sent our children to a holiday camp, organised by another ex-schoolmate in Putrajaya. She looked fine and happy.
She passed away last Tuesday. She was my age and she had a stroke.
Earlier at noon, I received an email in the office saying that she was admitted to a hospital. Soon in the evening, we received a text message saying that she had undergone a third surgery and that her artery had ruptured.
She didnt make it and passed away at about 11pm.
My friend was a mother of a nine year old math/science whiz girl and a one year old baby boy. Had been complaining to close friends about overwhelming stress that she's facing at work. And now she's no longer here. She also took with her, a 5 month old unborn baby.
Most of us, her ex schoolmates still dont know what to make of .. all these details about her death. I've been repeating these limited info that I had to other friends whom emailed me from London and even Washington. Well, at least now I'm communicating with some of my long (fortunately not lost) friends ... I said to myself.
Again, when tragedy strike I'm being reminded to take care of myself physically and emotionally first in order to take care of people I love - Love thy self; Call, hug, text those we cherish; Don't wait till tomorrow - for it may be too late.

Shadow of Ashland by Terence M. Green
The 4hrs ride back to hometown was quite nostalgic for me bcos it reminds me of how (usually) my father will wait for me at the other end of the journey. This time it was my mother who waited for me at the bus station in Lumut.
The book above accompanied me. The story was short, simple and coincidently match my present life situation. Life and death. Inevitable fact of life but doesn't make it less shocking. I finished the book within the weekend.
